WRITHING SNAKES
the record label that started it all

In the year 1501, a small group of gorgons lead by Protia Snakes descended the greek mountain Téras to the nearby city of Protos. They were the first ever monsters on record to attempt to reintroduce themselves to human civilization. They approached with hopes and dreams of their own and a burning desire to live beyond the mountains that had been their confines for a thousand years. They were lyricists and instrumentalists who came with song and dance as a peace offering, and Protia hoped that with this rare common ground and show of humility that they could bridge the gap between their species. Their first attempt at contact was nothing short of a disaster, and the humans were swift to chase them back up their mountain.

Many more attempts came after that initial one, and every time Protia descended the mountain, she brought with her more monsters. With nothing but time on their side, they eventually settled at the base of their mountain, closer to the civilization they so wanted to be part of. They were outcasts, but as the years passed, humans grew more and more curious about the gorgons and their angelic voices and instruments. Soon they began asking the gorgons to sing for them, and in turn began paying them for their craft. Inch by inch, song by song, the band of gorgons were permitted to creep closer towards the human's city, and eventually, with time, into it. By 1700, almost 200 years after her initial descent, Protia opened the first ever monster-owned business in a human city; a talent agency called Chordés Fidioú.

The rest is history. The news that human-friendly monsters existed spread like wildfire across the world. The unique and mesmerizing talent that came from Chordés Fidioú had never before been heard by humans, and before long the business garnered legendary notoriety. Encouraged, more monsters reached out to Protia looking to start lives of their own amongst the humans, and all who approached her she helped. Her actions started a global movement, and through the next centuries monsters from all across the world began to trickle out from their hiding places to join society. Protia and her gorgons were met by trials and tribulations through the years from humans who continued to push back against their existence, but through hardship Chordés Fidioú continued to find success. After the business was burned down in 1855 by angry humans, Chordés Fidioú was rebuilt and rebranded as Writhing Snakes.

Since their humble beginnings, Writhing Snakes has singlehandedly revolutionized not only the music industry, but society as both monsters and humans know it. Today the company has expanded to have locations on every continent and representatives in every major city on earth. They are a household name, and the artists they consistently produce go on to become living legends. Protia continues to run Writhing Snakes from its headquarters in Protos, Greece.
